Pieces first meetup

Dance, drink, talk, you know the drill … these were our aims at our very first ‘Pieces’ meetup in cool kids hang out, Herbal, in Shoreditch. We promised an eclectic night of music, and we definitely ticked this box – where else do you get to hear the mighty Cher alongside the equally mighty Simian Mobile Disco?

Meetups are always strange beasts – everyone is a bit shy at first and by the end, pretty much everyone has talked to someone new. This certainly seemed the case with this night. The fact that everyone is meeting via the net these days seemed to ease a bit of the worry around the night.

We’re going to let you all have a rest over Christmas and then hope to see you in the new year. What should our next meetup be like? Coffee, lunch, drinks … er … laser quest? Leave a comment and let us know.

Enabled by Design

We met the fabulous Denise from Enabled by Design for a quick coffee after work which ended up being a good few hours of chat. Are we dedicated or are we dedicated? Denise’s idea won the Social Innovation Camp award at the beginning of the year, and ever since her website has been going from strength to strength. Enabled by Design aims to make independent living more accessible through the use of clever modern design – gadgets that are both practical and stylish and indivudually tailored, instead of a one-size-fits-all approach. What she needs now is to build her community (just like us in fact) … and that’s where you come in. Visit the site and have your say.
